I just bought a Ruger 10/22 .22WMR today. I bought it purely planning to resell as I got it for the seller's asking price of $550 (13 people called after me in response to the ad) and I can likely sell it for $800. However, I kind of like it.

I've heard that these rifle had extraction problems and that they went from an original design of one extractor to two extractors. I test fired four shots from it an it seems to be fine. It is a single extractor model. I've also heard that the later two extractor models had problems with bolts cracking.

So here is what I'm wondering, are the problems that I've outlined correct? Is it an inherently flawed rifle or can I expect good service from it if, say, the first 100 rounds function fine. The previous owner said it has functioned perfectly since new but he only put 16 rounds through it.
