So I have a trued 700 short action, a slick McSwirley Classic, and I'm torn between a 22-250ai, a 308, and a 338 Federal.

I've got a hammer 308, but its 9.5# all up. So an 8# .308 appeals to me.

I've got a 223 AI on the way, and no other 22CFs. So maybe that counts as a hole in the line-up...but honestly, I'm in South Mississippi, so no varmints, and while I'd knock the tar out of a deer with a 22 CF, I just can't imagine that I'd reach for it often.... Or in reality that it would fill a needed slot between 223 AI and 243 AI. But cool to own?...Yes.

I've bad-mouthed 338 Federal in the past. But dang if I sort of think that a 20" Fed might be fun to bust dear and hogs with.
