I vote .243 and .308 or .30-06, buy a bolt .223 and a good .22LR. Most of us Texicans and Oakies would make only a once in a lifetime great bear hunt. Buy a used "enough gun" for that trip and sell it when you get home.
Now then, if I take my own advice, (and I should) I need to sell about twenty.
