Since the 22-250 was designed as a varmint rifle and way back then 50gr. bullets were considered state of the art 1-14 was just fine. Still even today the twist still works for bullets big enough for deer, a few anyway. I have shot some deer with my present 22-250 with several different bullets, my favorite being the 60gr. Hornady hollow point which is a tough little bullet designed in the beginning as a possible deer bullet.
