I got started hunting coyotes with my Honda CR500 motorcycle, in the winter when the pelts were prime me and a couple of my buddies would go to our secret honey hole and get about 4 to 8 coyotes every time we went.
One year my friend told me he was getting too old to chase them on dirt bikes anymore and wondered if I would go with him and try out his new Johnny Stewart cassette tape caller, I loaded up my trusty 270 with some Sierra 90 grainers and we went hunting.
Very first stand we had 2 coyotes come in both were pups, my friend shot one with his 223 and a split second later I shot my first coyote with the 270 at about 40 yards.........it blew it completely in half.
Long story short, I was hooked on calling coyotes but NEVER used a 270 again
