Get yourself a copy of Landis' book on .22 caliber varmint rifles. Writing in 1946, he was in the thick of all that experimentation back then and charts the history, successes, and failures of guys who long ago traveled down this path. Fascinating reading. A must-read for someone who doesn't want to re-invent the wheel. This stuff has all been done before.
