Never understood the appeal of a 50mm obj on a 1" tube. When I want a 1" scope it's for lightweight and compact.
My Kahles CL 3-10X50 is lighter by a half ounce and fits in the same mounts as a Zeiss 3X9X40 Conquest. Not too many people complain about the Zeiss being too heavy.
I do agree with you on a lot of 50mm scopes though.
