it was already gone when I got the boat. they just cut the sheet metal at the bends so the wings of the seat that held it down are still there, but the residual metal is flush with the hull. since they were covered up anyway who cares. on the sides they took more time and cleaned it up pretty well. I thought of drilling out those rivets but they aren't in the way and watertight as it is.
Here's where I got a lot of my info
http://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=21&sid=429c470dcd8c83cf70824b9302338098

What I learned is there are lots of ways to do it, some might last longer than others, and weigh less.

When you say the head of the motor, do you mean the part above water with the controls attached or the part in the water that houses the motor.

I've got a Minnkota that went kaput and I was going to buy some new parts to fix it up, but if you might be able to get yours up and running with some donated parts, let me know what you need.

I deer hunt on Upper Whitefish by Camp Foley. I will ask the guy I hunt with about fishing, as I have never fished it, but he has.

Yeah it's the top part above the water that is broken. Ill get the model when the current monsoon passes lol. It's broke bad enough it won't last long but its not going to get replaced out of this year's calf crop ( new minn.I'm looking at is 1200.00) buying a tractor fixed that .

Wow, that's a pricey unit. I understand that those position holding or gps guided units are the real deal for holding a boat over a school or following contours and such.

The potential donor is just a 30lb tiller steer model. If it can be of use, let me know.

That's pretty normal now dude. They can climb to $2k pretty quick with 101# of thrust, 36 volt power, gps, spot lock, contour trolling... The list goes on.

I'm going to need a boat or at least pontoons if it gets any wetter where I'm working.

It got a little deeper as I went along but I was able to just pull myself along with the bucket where needed. Knee boots were about useless as the mud was deeper than them or the suction would pull them off my foot. I'm cleaning up this mess with the dozer now.

I want the new one that deplys itself and it's remote. Then you can launch the boat yourself, hit the button and it will come back to the dock to pick you up. Yes, my name is Tom and I have a boating problem. laugh grin

I've had this Alumacraft for almost a year now and it's killing me not to get a different one.

I grunted when I had to fork out 200 clams for my little 40 lb thruster. I bet one like that would get me up on plane in my lil lund.

WB- looks a little wet, might want to throw down some kitty litter wink

you'll thank me later
