The 06 is an almost Winchester. It's one of the 80's production Brownings.

Hi Ron - I don't know how to do that. Just reporting what the proprietor said. I was an elementary/jr high school teacher - was not allowed in those places - never tasted the pulque. Want me to see if I can find some out here?

Hi Randy. Mostly just kidding, but sometimes the noise of those things coming from someone else's camp can be a nuisance.

No need to bring firewood - superabundance here. Indeed, Kent is the guy for reply about the cooking equipment.

Looking forward to seeing you. Will Jo be along?

First year that I went, Blue and I were early and hung out for a couple of days. That was pretty cool. Last year, he was out at the camp ground early, but I did not know and spent the night in town. We still had a day or almost, then Brian showed up. Just a few people makes visiting easier. Not trying to keep anybody away cause more time with friends is good. miles

Leonard - good thoughts on the handguns. We just need a handgun enthusiast to set up/run those shoots. (D and I are plenty busy with the rifle stuff). I sure hope that you can come.

I was thinking maybe .375 as the minimum dia. for big bores - how do others feel?

375 is NOT a big bore. .40 caliber minimum to get the recoil to a level that makes it meaningful.

Ed had good rules; 40 caliber, barrel sights only, no light loads...

my 340 Wby kicks harder than any .375 I have ever fired!

I an planning on being there early, I am leaving the ranch the 10th, and going to the { OLD TIMERS} get together in Ft Worth, a bunch of old cowboys sitting around telling each other how great we used to be, but it's great to see them again, that is the one's of us that are left. then to my son's in Colo. for a few day's, then to N. M. That will be enough driving for one trip, by the time I get home. Blue

For the smilin' record, you guys can go ahead and figger out how much recoil (therefore bullet dia.?) is required to qualify something as a big bore for that shoot. Don't make me no noleeyassee.

I'll be happy to help with whatever you think best for the setup/targets/shooting scene, etc. Am still thinking about that big bore moving target idea Patrick mentioned.

To those traveling the l-o-n-g roads - Blue, Miles, Patrick/Leonard, Bob, Brian, Randy, Ed and any others who come from way distant, let me venture thoughts by the "locals" here in the SW. This gathering is more excellent because you seek the same experiences we do - and undertake the extra effort and expense to be here with us. Appreciated !!

I don't see anything wrong with a big bore shoot being restricted to .40 and above using full power loads. I guess that means I'll need to go shoot in the heat and finally dial in the irons on my 450/400.
Oh darn. grin

If someone wants to put on a match that includes 9.3s and 375s I don't have a problem with it but it won't be a "big bore" match. I think the theme is that one needs to be able to make a timely follow-up shot with a heavy recoiling rifle. I don't think you are going to see PH's backing up sport hunters shooting pachyderms with 375s and 9.3s. There is a big difference between stopping rifles and hunting rifles. Look how many elephants Bell killed with a 6.5 or 7mm whichever it was. Doesn't mean that it was a good rifle to stop a charge!

Dangerous game match simulates a charge best we can.
