When did Savage change the twist from 1 in 14 to 1 in 10 in the model 99?

As a follow up question to AutoFive's...the 1 in 14 tend to stabilize lighter bullets better, correct? So for my '50's 99 in .250, stay under 100 grains?

Actually it's shorter bullets, not lighter. So if you go for 100gr, pick short 100gr bullets. For example, no Nosler 100gr bullets will stabilize in a 1-14" twist rifle, they are all too long. All else being equal, I like the 87gr Speer Hot Core loaded to 3000fps.

I literally just bought a box of those hoping that they'd work! Perfect, I will load some up and see how they work. Thanks for the tip.
