Anybody out there got their hands on a Legendary Arms Works rifle yet, either the professional or the closer?

Seems like a nice rifle for the bucks but apart from a few shot show marketing pitches I have yet to see one in the wild.

I got my eye on a new elk rifle for next year and it's coming down to the LAW closer and the MRC X2. Can anyone with experience sway me one way or the other?

I've been wondering the same thing. A professional in .280AI is on my radar, but I can't find any info other than what was put out for SHOT.

Not a bad looking rig for the price at all....I could easily hunt that professional in 280ack or 30-06 for the rest of my days.

I emailed them asking who made their barrels.
They have decided not to name the maker (at least to me) but indicated they came from multiple sources, were pull button rifled and they offer an accuracy guarantee of 3 shots MOA with factory premium ammo.

Whitakers is listed on the LAW site so hopefully shortactionsmoker will chime in.

A little birdie told me they could very well be adding a Remington-style safety to the mix in the near future.

I was down visiting SAS yesterday and handled one in 308. It was a very nice gun for the money. Almost bought it but may wait for a 7-08.

They shoot extremely well, handle very well and are lots of rifle for the money. I had the opportunity to play with a pre-production rifle. I like almost everything about them.

When the rep made his visit with his test rifle it was pillar bedded. I pulled it out of the stock and examined everything underneath. The bedding was near perfection on that rifle. The production rifles don't utilize pillars -- they have bedding blocks.

I think a move to the Remington safety would be a huge step in the wrong direction. The 3 position safety on the current rifle is perfect...and something to differentiate their rifle.

We'll have new ones on the shelf before long.

I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

I'll scratch it off my wish list if they do away with the mod 70 safety.

I don't think they're doing away with the M70 safety. I mentioned they may be including it to the mix.

Or, they may not offer it on the rifles at all but as an action option when action is sold separately.

Any/all of this is conjecture because I've heard nothing that absolutely confirms this.

It would be a big mistake for them to switch to a 700 style safety as that and the controlled round feed function are what set these rifles apart from the hundreds of 700 clone actions already on the market. Besides, it takes a lot of time and money to reprogram CNC machinery to make that happen (making a newly designed firing pin/shroud assembly).

Besides the CRF feature, what's the difference between this and the Nosler Patriot? I've already confirmed with LAW that there's virtually no difference in length of mag box, with a slight advantage to the Nosler (2.875 v 2.840).

They appear to have much the same strategy.....alot of bang for the buck, accuracy is paramount.

I picked mine up today. Put a Leupold VX-6 3-18 x 44 on it. Will take it out this weekend to shoot.

What's the price on the Closer? I thought they were going to be around $1399 but I see now that the MSRP is $1599
