I am talking about the 3-9x40s here, nothing else. I see that the Bushnell 4200 seems to have disappeared as has the 3200 and has been replaced with the Elite, what is the storey with these, have they been downgraded and sent to China for manufacture? Also the Conquests disappeared but seem to have been revived by Cameraland, are they the real deal or something else?

The plain Elite is an upgrade. The ones I own are at least as good as the Leupold VX-2 I have.

I have both and really like them. The 4200 glass is really good and the 3-9x40's are drying up. I haven't used the Elite so will have to defer to MichiganScott's post. I could close my eyes, make a decision and be satisfied with it.

I like the Elites. On a rainy day, the rainguard feature is great.

I sure like my Conquests that I've bought over the last several years. BTW, Midway has a pretty good selection of refurbished Conquests on sale now...I just picked up another.

I have both the 4200 Elite and the Elite in 3-9 and can't see the difference but the later model cost me less, I guess I am just a bit suspicious. I have never had a 3-9x40 Conquest but did have the 3-9x50 for a short while and thought the 4200 ( and a 3.5-10 x40 Leupy) were as good or better.

The Elites eye relief sucks. The Conquest is a better scope in every way.
Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

To my eyes anyway, the only true advantage between the two is that the Zeiss does have a bigger, more-forgiving eye box. Otherwise, it's a horserace. But everyone's eyes are different.....

I have the Elite 4200 and the Conquest. I like them both. For my eyes the Conquest is better in low light, everything else is pretty much equal.

I'm not a Bushnell fan generally based on in the field failures, the Conquest 3-9 x40 on the other hand is simply terrific in the field under very rough weather conditions and has been consistently accurate and dependable. I'm not sure there is a better deal right now than the eurooptic new conquest for a hunting scope.

Conquest has better eye relief and definitely a better reticle especially for lowlight hunting. Is it more rugged I can't answer and it is definitely not more compact. Meopta who built the original Conquests for Zeiss sells their version of the Conquest that is a tad more streamlined then the original Conquest. Meopta Meopro link
