You might find a Ruger LCR 9mm.

You can buy a S&W 686, 19, 66 or any J-frame .38/357 or a GP100 and send it to TK Cutom and they will rechamber it to 9mm or .38 Super/9mm and you will then be able to run the original cartridge plus 9mm and .38 Super in moon clips. I had a 3" 66, 3" 60-10 and a 649 done and all are great shooters.
It is fairly expensive but if you buy the base gun right you will have less money into it than trying to buy one of the original 9mm guns...

I came so close to buying one of those 986's that it was touch and go there for awhile. The balance of that pistol is amazing, with the 5 inch barrel and Titanium cylinder. I finally talked myself out of a 7 shot 9mm revolver, but it wasn't easy.

This is not exactly true...the 9mm is tapered and the chambers will be reamed out to accommodate. You could technically still fire 38/357 but its not recommended.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Thats interesting. When I called TK Customs last year and spoke with Tom at length about this very subject, I was told very clearly that it was not recommended. He said yea, 38/357 would fire after reaming out the cylinder for 9mm but extraction might be difficult and brass would not be reloadable. He said point blank I should only fire 9mm after reaming.
Sounds like he is thinking from a CYA perspective. No issues with extraction on your conversion RJM? Do you reload?
I may have to reconsider converting one of my GP100's...I decided not to have it done after what Tom told me.

...interesting...they never said anything that I remember about not being able to shoot .38s or .357s...however...
I had two .357's modified. As both are fairly rare guns I bought extra cylinders off ebay that fortunately dropped right in and timed fine with no gunsmith modifications. They were a 60-10 J-frame 3" with adjustable sights and a 66-3 3" that is the first batch of 3" 66s made.
So far from those two guns I have only shot them with .38 Supers in the modified cylinders.
The third gun is a 649 2" .38 Special +P. This gun just had the original cylinder rechambered and milled for the moon clips. I have fired all three rounds from this gun including some +P .38s and had no problem with ejection or bulged .38s.
Next trip to the range I'll bring all three guns and a variety of ammo and see what happens...
...and yes I do reload...close to 50 years...
I had the same concerns as you about the enlargement of the chambers which is one of the reasons I bought new cylinders for the two Magnums...
Also remember there was The Medusa...it shot everything from .380 ACP to .357 Magnum... I think these conversions will do the same.. I was told specifically NOT TO SHOOT 9x23 Winchester as the pressures were WAY too high.
