Carolyn and I both like the show for the most part.
Very interesting that the Lewis family genetics carry on that strongly in the 3 daughters.
The folks in the show sure seem like good folks. Always intended to buy something by or about Heimo but never did. Will have to look for sure now.
As to bush people.... not sure how anyone much can watch that stupidity, though I watch a few minutes if its raining out or such to see exactly how stupid it currently is....

I've really enjoyed the show. Being a 95 fan of course I like Mr. Lewis'!!!

Hiemo is a character and good people.
My guess is they're back at their cabin after moving to Ft. Yuke for a few years for the girls to finish high school.

yep they moved there so their girls could do high school proper I guess.
it was a sacrifice for Heimo, the way I hear it, but he does love those women folk of his.
he's a big fan of Sweetsir and I believe it's mutual.

Like most on here I do not watch much tv I have found this show to be very interesting in the lives of the people living in ANWR. There are no people living in ANWR. I believe Heimo Korth and his wife's homestead predate ANWR and hence they are living there. Ah........I didn't know that.

I too initially figured it was a scripted dumb ass reality show. Captive at a friend's home one evening and found it to be quality production. Not a regular yet, but I'd not surf away if it appears on the screen. Just seem to be good hard working folks that see the light at the end of the tunnel. Quite saddening really.

Kaktovik is well within ANWR. You are right, natives don't count. In addition there has to be at least a half dozen families that were grandfathered in prior to the stupid law and can live there until the death of their youngest child. As the show says within 100 years there will be no one living in those cabins. I suspect much less than 100 years but you need a little dramatic affect.

Can only be passed to direct family...I know folks who set up cabins and got grandfathered in.

I enjoy the show alot. Thought it was great that Heimo has a pet name for his 788 Remington. Was trying to get a shot at a caribou when a shell got caught up between magazine and action. He called it "prick"! I had a name for a Win 88 that was similar!!

I like the fact that Ray Lewis carries an original 1895 in .35 Winchester. Wonder if he rolls his own fodder. What is it with his wife's and daughter's eyes? Anybody else notice anything odd? the daughters suffer from a genetic condition called Blepharophimosis, ptosis, epicanthus inversus syndrome (or BPES). Each of the words in the name of the condition describes a different type of abnormal growth of the eye’s opening. Blepharophimosis is a narrowing of the opening; ptosis refers to–per the National Library of Medicine’s Genetics Home Reference page–”droopy eyelids”; and epicanthus inversus is “an upward fold of the skin of the lower eyelid near the inner corner of the eye.” Taken from this article >>>----------> Eye Condition
James Pepper: There's no law west of Dodge and no God west of the Pecos. Right, Mr. Chisum? John Chisum: Wrong, Mr. Pepper. Because no matter where people go, sooner or later there's the law. And sooner or later they find God's already been there.

The Lewis girls may look a bit different but Ray and Cindy have raised them to be smart, independent, hard working women. I hope they occupy the cabin til the end. I would love to sit around a fire and listen to Heimo's stories. He seems to be such a straight-up guy, totally without ego. I also love the way the characters themselves do all of the narration on the show.
