Well I sat through a tutorial on G1 vs G7 hut I'm not sure still how to calculate G7 even knowing G1.
Specifically I'm wondering about the G7 for the .308" Nosler BT & E-tip in 180gr. They seem to shoot well in my rifle but wanted to calculate out a drop chart. I'm basically just playing with it at this point, and will use it hunting this fall so figured on using these bullets I already have. Eventually I'll get to trying ABLR's.

I have the shooter app on my Iphone which has a built in library of BC's. The 180 gr. .308 ballistic tip G7 is .241, it's G1 is .471. These were as tested by Bryan Litz so should be accurate.
The 180 gr. Etip just shows a G1 of .523 which I think was published by Nosler. It sounds like BS to me, Nosler is known for inflating their BC's. It doesn't look like Litz has tested that one.
I don't think there's a way to calculate G7 from G1, I think it has to be tested. I could be wrong though.

Since actual trajectory data should be confirmed by actual chrono and field testing anyway, fire a few rounds at extended ranges and plug that data into your app. You can adjust the BC to conform to your actual data.

G7 only gives better predictions if your bullet matches G7 better than G1 AND your MV is well above 2700 fps or you're shooting out to distances where velocity drops below 1500 fps.

Get the Ballistic AE app and just enter the info. Shooting's supposed to be fun. Math isn't fun. Travis

cast10K,
Litz has some on his website, or others, but the source I used is his 2014 book BALLISTIC PERFORMANCE OF RIFLE BULLETS, which has complete profiles for over 400 bullets from .224 to .338 caliber. No doubt an updated version will appear every now and then, but for now the first edition works pretty well.

I'm playing with a .300 Win Mag and a pile of 180's. Things like this entertain the mind while on long shifts at work.

Thanks for the info CH. What app are you using. I'm using an app that's called "shooter" for the IPhone. There are several good ones for iPhones or android like some have mentioned. They all do pretty much the same thing. They're real handy and are a lot of fun to play with plugging in numbers to see what various bullets will do.
