Neat gun; got one just like it. It was my dad's gun. I've never been able to find a date code, even though it should have one. 28" barrels were full choke, 26" were modified, according to my 1952 Savage catalog. Mine has whacked a lot pf pheasants; don't shoot it much any more. This reminds me I need to take it out this fall!
