Slowly putting the parts together for a .404 Jeff Win 70. Have acquired a 300Rum barreled action, an Echols Legend stock with mag fill, swivel studs and recoil pad. Still need to acquire a barrel, bottom metal (thinking Sunny Hill), and a scope. Then it will be time for barrel installation, painting and stock fitting... Thinking of having the stock dipped in a wood finish after everything else is done, as Utah708 did in this thread: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/5896609/7

50 Alaskan on a Browning 71. 20" bbl as heavy as practical. Mostly will be using cast bullets. Just want a working gun for close up nasty critters.

Travis Was a sportered rifle- drilled/tapped, barrel cut to 18' and suppressor threaded. Stock was a 70's Monte Carlo. Found a '42 dated barrel for $50 from my local gunsmith, got the metal and woods from Numrich. Need a Lyman Alaskan now!

I just about have all of the parts for this years project. I am waiting on the barrel. At the end of the day it will be a 338/06. I am thinking it will need some Nosler 180 gr. Accubonds.

I'm always trying to build ones that are not quite the norm. Not to far off base, but never-the-less, different. Such as a few years back I rebarreled a Kimber Montana to 17 Rem. because they didn't offer a Montana in that caliber and its what I wanted. This year I'm doing a couple of builds. The first one is a Kimber Classic that is being rebarreled to 243. It's a Classic in 7mm08 that shop quite well, but I have another one in that caliber and nothing in 243. Lilja chrome moly barrel using the 84M contour and blued to match the action. While its down everything will be trued up if needed. The second one is a Kimber Classic Select in 7mm08 that I am restocking in English Walnut. This one is going to take awhile to finish. The inletting is almost finished. Not quite as nice as some of the others I've seen in this thread, but it is different.....kind of. deleted

K22, Great pics! I am sending those to non gun woodworking buddies. How are you inletting? With candle smoke on the barrelled action? When I inlet a stock, I put it on the mill and make some clearance, and then later pillars for 3 point support to counter action screw clamping force.

I'm using inletting black on the receiver/barrel. We start by measuring the action/barrel, then putting it in a Mill (CNC) and having it cut a very minimum inlet. Then I do the rest by hand. Scrappers, chisels, sand paper, ect. I then add the pillars. After I shape it more I will remove more wood in the action inlet and bed it. Some current pictures.

Bob, I really like your project with the Creedmore in a 700. I have a Benchmark #2 on a .270 and it shoots and cleans up real well.

StrayDog: Fun gun. I bought it from my old buddy RinB who assembled the barreled action and trigger. 24 hours later it was shipped to Alex and that same day DArcy shipped me a stock. It may be the fastest custom of all times for me. I hear Benchmark barrels are the nuts!

I will be building up my cash account. Took delivery on two full customs last year as well as some very nice optics. That all set me back about $10,000.
Time to refill the coffer.
