I am considering buying a m99 .303 savage. I have heard that some people fire 30-30 win. in these rifles. Is this possiably true and would the resulting brass be reloadable with the proper .303 Sav. dies

.30-30 is too long for the .303 so I don't know how'd you get the lever closed without screwin' up the works.
People resize .30-30 for the .303 but its a bad idea and they usually split on the first shot.
If you reload, get some real .303 brass because it will last forever if you load it right.

I do have to agree with mike on that, but I am a cheap bastard when it comes to brass. I don't shoot my good stuff much anymore. Les

Les They Look Wonder Ful! Goona try-em this Weekend Now With-Out Pisssing You and Mike Off. The 30-30 reformed is also good. Necks will not Split Mike if Carefully reforemed and Necks annealed under Candle After Reforming. I have Done it Seen It and Works Well. But Yes, Yes And Yes on Orginal Brass! And I think I am gonna Like Les's Set-up. And I think it very Cost Effective. Steve

Mike, I'll get you taken care of, I am waiting on my next 500 from midway. I did up some for someone here on the forum and they let me keep some of it. You did get me straight on that stuff with Bertrams awhile ago. So I owe you. Plus your wife is one heckuva cook as you are a gracious host. Les

Thing about the 30-30 Steve isn't the necks it is the side of the case itself, they tend to split in the side, it is to narrow if you use it frequently.

I know that feeling, since I am just a lowly house dad and computer fix-it guy, I have been doing a lot of reloading and shooting on Sat and Sundays. Should have the next bunch done by the 15th of Oct. Coors light, Mike I'll have to send you some Breckenridge Avalanche with the shells too. Les

I've got 10 boxes of original .303 Shoot from 2 boxes...reload original cases. Been gettin at least 3 reloads before I see a split case...even then maybe one split case from 20...steal a round from the third box...

30-30 brass can be used for 303 cases by sleeving the 30-30 case with a short section of a 40 S&W case. This has never caught on, I guess, because it's simple, cheap, easy, and works.

Les Never Had tht Problem With the 30-30 Unless the Loads are to the Max. Or the brass was not New or More than 2-3 time fired. But in the Same Circumstances this Could Happen in Factory Cases also. Pending Loads, Wear of Cambers, Etc Etc. The 30-30 is a Universal case that serves a lot of Calibors as far as reforming. And Is Fairly Cost Effective Cart to buy! As far as Cost of 30-30 to .307 I do Not Know the difference in Cost.
Now to better things. the 307 (Les's reforemed) Les went to the range yesterday 50 Yds Open Sights 3 Rnds 1/2In-3/4" Groupings, Scoped 3Rnds 1/4"-1/2" Groupings, 100Yds Scoped 6 Rnds 3/4" Groupings. Assume stuff, Like the Loading did Not Feel the Kick/Recoil as Factory Rnds. I would Say this is very Good Ammo. I would Like to see How 180 Grainer's Preform. But I would Market the Stuff, And Would Rate this as AAAA++++. Very Smooth And Accurate Shooting Ammo, Tnx For the Ammo Les you got my Thumbs Up.
