One of our better / most productive stands is about 100 yards off a forest service road. We have shot some big bucks from that stand.

I should go put up some cameras too. I enjoy seeing what walks by but I barely have the patients to sit during season.

I picked up a new-to-me toy for working up food plots. It made short work of my 1-1/2 acres. smile

seen a lil WT tonight whose rack is just to the ends of his ears. maybe 3 or 4 points on each side, likely 4 cause there's a bunch of them out here.

WB, why didn't you get something that can really pull? I'd say that is minimum at best laugh
J/K that sucker is a hoss!

I did see a fair amount of deer tracks in the dirt when I was shooting in one of the clear cuts. Even some fawn tracks so the woofs didn't get em all yet.

What I didn't see was rubs from what looked like last year. There were some older ones.

The two clear cuts I have been able to see across for two years are not VERY grown up. The buggy whip Popples and Spruce tress are now 6-10' tall and pretty thick. The last few years, You could get up about 6' and be able to see across, but not anymore.

Nice food plot scratcher WB. grin

Pam, Joey and myself went out to the cabin between thunderstorms yesterday. We brought out the little 30 hp tractor with the mower and box blade attachments. We parked the truck and trailer out at "the landing". It's about a mile in to the cabin from there.

We loaded out stuff onto the little tractor, mower was attached to the 3 point, the box blade was inside the loader bucket. A chainsaw, generator, small cooler and a few tools were also loaded onto the tractor. We drove the tractor in to the cabin on the wet, muddy trail with waist high grass. Some of the grass was shoulder height.

The plan was to get the riding mower at the cabin going for Pam to mow around the cabin while me and Joey mowed the trail that leads in to the cabin. It all worked out pretty well. We got the road grass cut so hopefully the ground can dry out some and next time out we can maybe disc certain parts of the trail and level off any ruts that are holding water.

Pam got the grass mowed around the cabin, that initial cutting anyways. That too can now air out some and next time we will hopefully get it cut a little nicer.

We left the tractor at camp and walked back out to the truck because we plan on using the tractor some more possibly next weekend.

Critter sightings were a doe and spotted fawn, 6 baby grouse a bit larger than an adult robin, and a bunny rabbit.

Wolf and deer tracks up and down the camp road.

Good to hear there are venisons repopulating the area again.

We'll have to see how bad the weather ruins my projects this week but I'll have to see if I can get out there next weekend and give you a hand.

As far as my lil tratter. I was concerned that 280hp might be a little on the light side but I cut down that chisel plow to 14' so I wouldn't have any issues. smile

You should be able to run the 14 footer pretty deep without pulling that tractor down too bad.

if my old 130 hp tractor can pull a 10 foot chisel plow you should have PLENTY of power even in idle!

A few of us ventured out to Van Hook on Lake Sakakawea in ND for a weekend of fishing, eating and visiting this past weekend. They hold a kids walleye tourney out there and the girls took 2nd place again. One of them being Waylon's and Makes No Patties youngest.

On Sunday, a handful of us got the rare opportunity to do a full tour of a working oil drilling rig. That was extremely interesting.

I forgot to mention, when we were out to the cabin on Sunday I noticed the blueberries ate ready to pick in some spots. We didn't have time to bother with any blueberry picking while we were out there but it looks like it could be a decent year for picking.
