I was going to reply with the same statement. Very dark.

Sorry to hear about your wife's dad Paul. Prayers sent.

I'm wondering if those came out of a tea-stained colored body of water. We fished up in Emily over the 4th of July. We were on a little two lake chain-Lakes Emily and Mary. Emily was fairly clear, but Mary had that dark, tea stained water. You couldn't see 6 inches down in that lake, and not from any kind of algae bloom. All the fish were very dark like those walleyes. Jeez, I got a bass and thing was colored like a chunk of coal.

Tea stained indeed, goph, but most of our walleye lakes are !

That said, this lakes fish are particularly dark, with "golden" bellies.

Cool looking fish if you ask me. Different than we're used to.

Very sorry for you and your wife's loss Paul.

Tom, I hope the youngin' is feeling better. It sounds like she had quite a serious concussion. I had to get concussion "certified" to coach LL this year. It's serious stuff. Sure enough the second practice, a novice right fielder misjudged a fly ball right to the forehead. Sounded like the crack of the bat. The ball bounced off his forehead in rightfield all the way to second base. I thought the kid was dead. He popped up like a cork and was just fine, no signs of any concussion, just the stitches of the ball imprinted on his head! Lesson for me? Kids are resilient more than we know.

She is CFT. It's hard to keep her rested though. I've had the same training yearly for baseball and football for coaching. So once she started to throw up, it was obvious what happened. She didn't have bouncy eyes or even a headache on Monday when it happened.

Thanks Dave & CFT,

One day at a time for the moment.

Planted a flowering pear tree, in the back yard, yesterday, as a living memorial. We can see it from the kitchen & anywhere on our back deck. It was a gift from Deb's co-workers.

Funeral is 10:30 Wednesday, Australian time, which makes it 7:30 tomorrow night, our time.

A good friend of ours, has set up a "live link" for us to be able to watch the service, in real time.

So, after work Tuesday, the Clan will gather at our house for a Canadian farewell.

Going to eat deer bangers & garlic mash, with onion gravy for supper. It was Bruce's favourite request, every time he & June visited. Washed own with a glass of red wine.

Then we'll patch into the live link & watch the service.

Perhaps a little shot of Appleton's 12 year old for a final toast.

I too am sorry to hear of this Paul. My ex FIL and I ae very close. His health is failing and I hope the tough old bugger pulls through for some more years...he deserves a break.

Paul, the tree planting is a great idea. We did the same here when my niece and nephew died, with the donations from the campfire folks. We planted two Apple trees in the back yard and they are producing apples, which we use.

I sure miss our friend Grizzly Bill's input on this thread. frown

Our friend Bill (grizzly_bill) Bodenheimer left us about a year ago. I miss our annual fishing exploits, and our long BS session about hunting and kids. I hope his grandson Wyatt is doing well and I think about him often as well. His wife Judy is being well taken care of by the kids, I have no doubt.

My favorite crappie lake may be open this weekend if the lake drops enough people are still swimming in the parking lot right now and the road to the ramp is closed .

I thought I heard mention of somebody getting hitched ?
Stan you got the scoop ?
