Anyone had good luck in 257 wby MK V with 100 gr. Pro hunters? I can't get this gun to shoot my Nosler Partitions but the Sierra Spitzer shoots great on paper. I need something for the small whitetails (less than 200 lbs.) in Alabama. Thanks

i like the factory loading w/ the barnes x bullet. it seems to put them down onto of thier feet. what more can you ask? well maybe a less expensive load, but, i only shoot it a few times a year and never more than once per animal.

Half-minute accuracy, while pleasant to observe, is in no way superior to one-minute accuracy in any serious rifle.

I got my .257 specifically for antelope hunting with 100 gr. bullets. The only half way accurate load I could find for it was the factory loads. I tried several different bullet/powder combo's and nothing equalled factory performance.

My most accurate loads overall were hand loaded 120 gr. bullets and factory WBY round nose 117 grainers.

I probably haven't fired it in five years or more and pretty much use the .308 for everything these days.

I did try some 100 gr. bullets and loads recommended by Big Stick. Overall, they weren't enough better on paper so as to make me want to try them on any critters.

We do use the 100 gr. Pro Hunter bullets in Mabel's .243 and they are very good performers for both accuracy and knock down power.

The best grouping I got with my .257 Roy was with Reloader 22 (72 grs.) & Berger 87 grain moly bullets. I have heard Bergers are tough on damage to meat, vs. animal you aren't plannig to eat. may need to search a thread on that issue. see attachment

I have read these have actually failed on mule deer and antelope shoulders from a 25-06. It was in 1996 Handloader's digest I believe. 110 accubons at 3500 fps all the way!

I agree with pop, I would look at the 110 accubond before the pro hunter. I also would consider Hornady interlocks before the pro hunter in a 257 Roy.

But, the 100 TSX is the choice in my mind.
