Just picked up a gen 1 rem 700 xcr in .375 holland and holland. Should arrive next week. Any pet loads? Im thinking cut to 23" and 260gr accubond or a 250gr gmx. Scope suggestions? Cant wait to shoot it. Going to use it on Sambar deer within 150 meters.

I use a 300 gr Sierra (Winchester M 70 Super Express) and Hornady (Winchester M 70 Stainless Steel) in both of my .375 H&H's. Powder is both H & IMR-4350 with a Rem 9 1/2 mag primer.

I always used IMR 4064 in my 375 H&H's. 66.5 grains with 300 grain bullets and just returned from Africa where my 260 grain Nosler Partition load of 70 grains of IMR 4064 clocked @ 2710 fps and was VERY efficient, as my son said! I always use Fed 215 primers and a medium crimp on the cannelure.

First of all, congrats on your great rifle and caliber combination. The 260g Noslers and 250g GMX is all I use and they do the job better than anything on African game. Still need to try it on US game. I load mine with 4064 so its high quality bullets at a fraction of the price.

If you want some 260g Partitions you should look on Africahunting.com. Pretty good deal on some high quality bullets there.

Thanks for all the feedback. Only one tough choice left. 2-7x33 vxr or a 2.5-8x36 vx3! Should have her by next week. Like a child before xmas.

FX-2 3X20 from the Custom Shop or, if you'd rather spend $1000 than $400, VX-6 1-6 Illuminated German 4.

67gr. of Varget with a 260gr Partition has been a performer.
Always work up the load.

Mine likes as much IMR4831 as you can get in the case with a 300 Sierra crunched down on top of it. It does 2550 from my 21" barrel and will shoot well inside an inch if I can hold onto it.

I've only worked up a somewhat reduced load for mine, 68 grains of IMR 4064 with a 235 Speer. Velocity unknown but several 4 shot groups below an inch.

I have a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36mm on my 375 Ruger. I am real happy with it.

How about a 1x-4x or a 1.5x-5x Leupolds? Have the 1x-4x on the Super Express.

I've run 1.5-5, 2.5-8 and 1.5-6 on my 375. The 1.5-5 was lightest, the 2.5-8 most versatile and the 1.5-6 has an illuminated reticle. Any of those or the 2-7 should serve you well.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

Anything except dangerous animals should be easy enough to put down with a 270 soft point at 2500-2600.
No need to beat yourself up stopping an ungulate.
