Got to make up some deer loads for my buddy, never loaded for a .270 cuz they suck but he likes it and I hunt his land so Im all in.
Anyone for a pet load they dont mind sharing?

58 grains h4831, and any decent 130, 140 grain bullet. In my order of preference, Nosler Partition, Hornady Interlock, Ballistic Tip, Sierra Game King.
Hodgdon H4350 will work if you have that, and about umpteen other powders, but the above are my favorites based on a significant track record.

55 grains of IMR4350 under a 130 is a real good load in a lot of rifles. H4350 ought to do just as well.

R19 with a 130 3145 fps out of a 22" barrel and a tack driver. About the same load I use w/H4831 but way faster. My gun shoots Barnes TSX and Hornady's in the same group. Work up, bla bla etc.

130 TTSX or 150 Partition, both with H4831, is about all I use anymore in a couple of 270's.

Suffice it to say that I also disagree with your opinion as well.
The 270 Winchester IS and HAS BEEN one of the top cartridges for Deer (and much other game as well!) since the day it was born (back in 925!)!
That amazing fact was even further enhanced when the fine folks at Nosler began manufacturing their latest variation of the 130 grain Ballistic Tip bullet.
I won't give you any of my favorite "pet loads" I use in my various 270's because you don't deserve them.
But for the sake of your "buddy" I will highly recommend you use the Nosler 130 grain Ballistic Tips in his 270 loads.
Sheesh.

VarmintGuy gets it. Deer drop like a lightning bolt hit with these 270s. All mine did, dropped faster than 308, 35 Rem, 300 Win Mag, 35 whelen, 20 gauge slug, 12 gauge slug, and 25'06. All shot behind the front leg. Perfect deer cartridge with 130s IMHO.

p port. I agree w/the loads already listed. The 270 W is very easy to find accurate loads.
1 combo not mentioned yet, I believe was also JOCs.
For moderate recoil and blast use IMR 4064, 49grs., 130 bullet.
I've graphed that load years ago in several rifles and the velocity is @ 2900 fps. It helps novice shooters, YUTES, and ladies.
I killed several WT with that combo, so it is a proven performer IF the shooter performs also.

Today's trial run with RL15 and the Barnes 110ttsx. 50 grain sight in load in middle. Up in 1/2 grain increments to 52.5 gr. 52.5 put 3 into <1/2" with a flyer opening it up. Has promise.
