Fiat will buy back 500,000 Dodge Ram trucks as well as a multitude of other problems to resolve. $100,000,000 fine also. Who gets the money?

Mine was one of those. They gave me $987,000.00 for mine because of the mileage I have been getting...

My 2002 Dodge Ram Quad took a major chit at 130K miles just 5 years after I bought it, never again!

Haven't heard yet if my 2009 Ram 1500 is on their 'buy-back' list. If it is, their buy back offer better be a really good one. I'm guessing they will simply offer a fair trade-in value, in the hopes that people will be enticed to buy a new vehicle. I wonder if they will be offering just cash to folks, or if a trade-in is mandatory.

So, if mine is on their list, my choices will be, let them fix my truck for free, or shell out tens of thousands for a new truck that I don't need. Kind of an easy choice, IMO.

Good idea! No other manufacturers have ever had that happen...

I have 2 on the list. Both 2012, 1 Hemi 1500 and a Cummins.
I love them both.
Will be interesting to see if they are willing to just install new front end parts for the fix.

I heard 1990's Jeep Cherokees are covered as well, due to fuel tank location, apparently. So, so much for getting a deal on a cheap beater 4x4 smile

Apparently in the court filings the new front end parts they've tried installing so far don't actually fix the problems...

So I guess they must have redesigned the front end of the Dodge trucks in 2008? I have a 2007 - no mention of that year being involved.

I'm at the point where I just don't trust ANYTHING our government does, nor do I believe the reasons they give for their actions.
What I see, is another move to destroy industry, bankrupt corporations, and expand the power of .gov into every facit of life.

I think we are safe Pat. Any XJ or wrangler I have ever owned has a skid plate under, curled up front and back of gas tank to protect from rocks. Both of my Wranglers have heavy duty skid plates. Bet we never get "the" letter. I would take a 2016 as trade for the 2014 that is current.

They have had front end problems for a long time. The phrase "Death Wobble" has been around since the early 90's at least. The tracking bar goes south and gets too much play in it and it wil shake you so bad you have to stop if it happens. Then the front brakes were crap also. My 98 has had 4 brake jobs in 130K miles.

Of course the Fords lost all those transmissions for several years though.

Mine is up for some repairs. Steering linkage and the airbag.

It's a 2004 2500 quad cab diesel.

My 2010 3500 4WD Cummins Dually shows no recalls, but every Dodge dealer in my part of the state has been trying to buy it from me for a couple of years!
