Bow season just opened here in Florida. I was lucky enough to have a buddy with 1200 acres and a out of balance buck to does ratio. He informed the 7 hunters he invited it would be stickly does... We would have to let all bucks walk.
I hunted a stand they call the "big pretty" WOW! and it is...It looks over 700 yards pasture. at first light I was lucky enough to see 8 large Osceola Turkeys fly down from a large oak in the pasture. had several deer including a wall hanger feed along the edges of the pasture that morning. Then in bow range came a doe with about a 80lbs yearling. I tosses a muzzy through both of the larger does lungs (127 lbs)..she ran to the edge of the pasture and folded up. an hour later I had a single old doe..they aged her at 6 1/2 years old step out of a hammock at 20 yards. made a heart shot on her and she took 4 steps and rolled. She was 134 lbs. And for those of you that have never hunted in Florida. those are fair sized deer for here.

Out of 7 hunters we took 8 does, 2 hogs and 2 Turkeys. Thats my best start ever.

Congrats on a good hunt. I took a small doe yesterday on public lands near the house. Meat for the freezer.

yeah... me too. did donate 2 hams for camp meat to the ranch. Had a great hunt this morning...look at 17 year old son.
