It seems that you guys on this forum are the most informed about taking firearms aboard aircraft, so maybe you can help me . I'm going to Germany for a Red Deer and Boar hunt in Nov. I'll be flying Lufthansa airlines . Can someone tell me if there are any special restrictions for Lufthansa other than the normal TSA requirements ,on firearms and Ammunition

Lufthansa was pretty good with me and firearms, all they wanted was "papers please" you know the Germans and their obsession with that phrase! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The best advice I can give you is go to their website and hunt around for their rules on firearms, then PRINT A COPY and have it with you just in case you run into a liberal-gun-hating-democrat. jorge

Looking at Lufthansa's website (http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/de/info_services/travel_preparation?l=en&nodeid=1333519 ) under their special baggage requirements, they only state:

Special baggage
For details about the transportation of arms, ammunition, bikes, ski or surfing equipment please contact any Lufthansa sales office or your travel agent.

I'd give the travel agent a call and see what they say or call Lufthansa's office in the States.

Let me just add to that find out what, if any regulations Germany has on firearms importation, and temporary licensure. If you are doing a professionally guided hunt, your PH should be able to help you there.
