Both mine and my wife's semi custom 7-08s shoot bug holes with RL-15 under 140 accubonds.

Byd - you mean it's 60 degrees? I don't hunt the west side but most years in elk season it's not much colder than 40... October 20ish...

I think 3000 fps is a realistic velocity with 120 gr bullets and RL-15 or Varget for that matter in a 22" barreled 7mm-08. Big Game (recommend WLR primers), 2000MR, and CFE-223 will get you 100-150 even 200 fps more but most times won't be any more accurate, probably a little less. Wife shoots 120 gr TTSX out of her 7-08ai at a little over 3200 fps (24" barrel) and gets very good accuracy, not quite as good as Varget. This is her do everything load and she'll be taking it to NM this fall for a bull elk hunt in a trophy unit. In my X-Bolt 7-08, my deer load is a 120 gr NBT under 50.5 gr Big Game at 3130ish fps. WLR primers really tightened the groups up in that rifle. And that exact same load with 120 gr TTSX will be our backup rifle on that NM hunt.

If you ever wanted to play with a Barnes, my 700 Classic likes RL15 and the 140g TSX.
