My grandfather gave my son a Gerber 475 a few years ago and he is finally old enough to go hunting this year. The knife is great, but it didn't have a sheath. Anyone have an idea where I could get one (either original or one made to original specs)?
My grandfather is too old to go out hunting now (94 years this year) so it would be great to take a piece of him with us. Incidentally, it's the same model of knife that my Grandfather gave me when i was 14.
Appreciate any leads. Thanks.

SamSteele; Good evening to you sir, hopefully this finds you well.
If you do canadiangunnutz at all, in the knives section there's a fellow who posts as SBranson23 - Stuart Branson - who I believe is in Victoria - who used to make wonderful sheaths.
He still might and it wouldn't hurt to ask him I'd think. He's now making grand knives so that's why I'm not sure he's still doing sheaths.
Hopefully that was useful information to you sir, good luck with getting a fitting sheath for that wonderful family heirloom.

Thanks Dwayne. I'll see what I can find on him.

Doug Haas, 757 here, makes great sheaths. I usually contact Michiganroadkill, since he lives near Doug, and he handles the order for me.

Got a local saddle maker to make a copy of the original sheath I had, complete with white stitching. It almost looks identical except for the initials that we put on it. I'd recommend James Built Saddlery in Tofield AB again. Took a week and $60CAD. They also make scabbards and chaps.

ETA: Got to take the sheath into my Grandfather in the hospital and we had a good chat about it and hunting. He was happy to see that the knife was going to be used. Wrapped the sheath up for the boy's birthday today.
