375 ruger w a 20 inch barrel for deer? I want something that wont tear up meat, but can still shoot a decent distance. I was thinking either a 250 or 270grain barnes tsx or a 260 nosler accubond. What ranges can i get with these?

Any of those will do fine, however if you don't want to tear up meat, don't shoot meat. About any bullet made for the .375 Ruger/H&H is sturdy enough not to over expand on deer size game. As far as what range, how well can you shoot the rifle? The cartridge will kill far beyond where most hunters would attempt a shot.

If you had to choose one all-around bullet, what would it be? Thanks for the response

Don't overlook the 270 Hornady. The 375 Ruger is fully capable of 400 yd plus harvesting of game animals. The rest is up to the shooter.

And yes it is a fine whitetail cartridge.

That spot of blood on the shoulder is the exit.

Thanks. I think a lot of people are afraid of the recoil and the stigma of a "3-7-5". My Ruger doesn't recoil all that bad. Also, a bullet that big is not needed. Many hunters use as little as possible when it comes to bullets and cartriges.

Of the three, I would probably go with the TSX for deer. My only experience with the 250 TTSX and the .375 Ruger on smaller game was in Africa on a springbok, at 250 yards. A perfect, behind the shoulder shot produced a massive, 2" exit hole. Now, a springbok is smaller than a doe antelope or whitetail, but I would hope the regular 270 gr. TSX would have less expansion on a small target.

Too bad FMJ bullets can't be used!

I've only shot paper, handloaded 250 grain Barnes TTSX worked well, I'm thinking I may want to try the Barnes 235 grain TSX to get a little more speed.

Or bone!! Ask me what a 270g tsx will do at 427 laser yards to the front end of a doe...It went from a meat hunt to a robbery with one bullet..The blood shot was pretty much the front end not counting the tissue damage.
Still my second favorite cartridge of all time

260 Accubond gives a Moose a headache at 7 yds and 2800 fps, 78% wt retention, opened to about 3/4" X 1 1/4".
Also the most accurate bullet at 300 yds I've tried, same charge of H4350 as the 270 Hornaday and 260 Partition works good in my guns.
