Best one yet.

Great conditions, no kelp, clear water, flat and little surge. Spent some time in the water looking for a deep shell, worked 8-30 feet on reefs and walls where you can't get into with any waves, or would get killed. Abalone everywhere, but nothing huge with lots of sea urchins around. Abalone hate sea urchins. So do I, I have about 8 spines stuck in me right now.

Brought home a couple for the family (live and whole, sorry TSA), steaks, sashimi and burgers for dinner last night and one had a real nice shell, no worm holes, and a nice gift. Might get a necklace made up with this one.

Even though I had to put that little finger back together with superglue after a slicing mishap, Life still ain't sucking.

Some work, reward, good times and a beautiful gift from nature, met with silence. A post about baby rape would be two pages by now.

Sad to see what the campfire has become.

That's pretty cool. Do you do anything with the shells?

Calm down Rancho! Nice find - quite beautiful. I'm not a water guy - always wished I was since there seem to be more untapped adventures there than anywhere. Besides, it makes you automatically cool. smile

Nice. My brother was an avid diver out of Pt. Arena and nabbed one of those many years ago. His ex-wife likely still wears it.

You have to consider the title. To most of the 'fire, Abalone Pearl, sounds like a really ugly strippers name.

I've only had abalone 3 times...the first time I was a young child and the abalone had been tenderized and then deep fried and after all these years I still think it was the best seafood I've ever eaten.

I've love to see a pistol grip made from abalone, but I've never seen a shell big enough to make it work. I think it's a fairly delicate material too.
