Funny you should have a .41 misfire, Crawfish.

While using Federal Large Pistol primers and shooting my Smithie 57 about a month ago, I experienced a misfire...the first in a couple of years. Well, this is my deer hunting/bear protection gun (okay, it's a someday fantasy).

But I was just plain alarmed.

I recalled dropping some of my primers on the basement concrete floor during my last reloading session, picking them up (Heavens! Don't waste a single one, rooster!) and loading them without a second thought.

So, after hitting the primer several more times with the firing pin, I went home.

Using an inertia bullet puller, and gently de-priming the case, I discovered what I sort of suspected.

No anvil.

After looking at my floor for five minutes, I did indeed find a shiny, in-carbonized anvil.

My point here is, you may have gotten a lousy primer, but...you may have also done something as subtle as I did.

Good grief! Keep shootin'! Your record on misfires in 36 years sure beats mine for the same time frame...and I've had at least a dozen in the last 34 years of reloading. My confidence in my primers remains intact.

I don't know rooster. Afterall we are talking 36 years and he has had a misfire!!!

Misfiring that often I would think his whole reloading operation should be suspect. Perhaps he should get rid of all his reloading equipment .... I'll take it ... but since it is defective I think Crawfish should pay shipping [Linked Image] Buy all new stuff and read a manual or two before trying it again!!!

Crawfish I'm obviously joking, That is a record that Remington, Winchester, CCI or anyone else would be proud to obtain!!!!!

Keep up the good work ... Hell with the round that misfired ... I'd mount the bullet back into the brass and make a keychain out of it [Linked Image]

It was such a surprise sort of like hearing Sister Mary Cathern say sh*t thought my ears would burn off or that I would go deaf. [Linked Image]
