Hey all from Down Under. Only my second post, but tell me...
When it comes time to put down the tools, or gloves or keyboards or whatever you do, where would you like to spend your retirement doing more fishing, hunting and general outdoors stuff?

I'm pretty happy right where I am,great fishing, good hunting, and not many people.

Not that any of you would like living here! smile

I'll be retiring in the Texas Hill Country. Lots of WT deer, Exotics and hogs to hunt year around! It's also not a bad drive to get to the coast for a little saltwater inshore/offshore fishing!

Got no plans to move from here, but I could see myself spending months at a time in different places, Costa Rica for a start.

Got kin in England, ancestors from Ireland, I've never been to Israel, the Far East or Australia.

Or I could live off of a bicycle for a year here in North America, following the seasons, for well under $30,000 a year.

Complicating things is, I have no plans to retire.

North Wales, UK, an upcoming trip will partly involve searching for a permanent home in a town called Llangollen, preferably on the River Dee. I want to spend every day and night listening to the sound of the the river, it brings peace to me.

I guess that I'm there now. Been more or less retired for about 11 years and I don't see a move in my future. Nice people, beautiful scenery and lots of public land recreation opportunities.

I guess I'm another that will stay where I am now! Its not perfect, but good hunting, fishing, friends, close enough to things that we don't have.

This place is paid for.

I see a lot of people move from their home to there dream area. They leave their kids, grand kids, friends and church. Most are sorry they left. If you can afford it best to have two places. Hasbeen

Wish to do the Hemingway thing. Summers in Sun Valley, Winters someplace warm with good fishing. Spring in Africa and Fall in Europe. Nothing that writing a half dozen best sellers would enable. smile

To damn hot here. Less than 10 years we hope to be at least 9 months of the year in Alaska.

Wife probably can't handle all year so we'll come back to our place in Texas for the months that the weather likely wont' hit 100.

We discussed going all over, and then decided Alaska was better than just dragging an RV from state to state or such eveyr year...

Likely able to fly out from AK for "vacations" from retirement too if the urge hits...
