I see that a lot of companies make magazine extensions for the Remington 1100.

Which ones to consider ? Which ones to avoid ?

Reliability is of utmost importance.

Chote extensions (spelling?) seems to work just fine for me, both on my 1100 and 870

Those are the best, Tac Star extensions work well, too, but I favor Choates. I have them in 7, 8, 10, and 12, but the 12 shots are ungainly and awkward.

I used them for 3-gun matches, never had an issue.

Choate and Wilson are similar quality. Choate is less expensive. Ebay may be your friend.

If you get a long donger, be sure that the spring doesn't hang up on the "joint" between the fixed tube and the extension.

With the Benelli's you have the choice of getting an aftermarket entire length long tube or the extension.

Can't remember if the full length tubes are also available for the 1100.

I think it's a TacStar I have on my house 1100. Two shot extension. Works fine but it's not like I'm shooting a flat through it on weekends at clays or anything.

There's not a heck of a lot going on with these devices. If the tube is straight, and the threads screw down tight, there's not much else to say about that part. The spring is probably the most important part of the setup. Whatever follower you are using is likely more important than the extension itself.

I got the Choate & just now put it together. Everything seem to load & feed OK. I will take it for a test drive tomorrow.

I note that it came up 1 round short of what was advertised , this is supposed to be a 9 shot extension 8 + 1. It is actually 7 + 1
