a friend gifted me with two pounds of Maine Lobester meat. I took that up to my daughter's house this past Sunday, and made lobster salad for dinner. All the ingredients seperate, so you could make it how you wanted. There were a variety of cheeses, wine, breads, to go along with the salad.

Really not many ways to cook a lobster. Steam/boil, BBQ or lobster thermidor. I prefer steamed/boiled. Cooked live. At least 2 pounds. Just with melted butter. How to eat: http://www.chow.com/recipes/29306-basic-steamed-lobsterThe 2 pounders and up have those small legs/feelers that are big enough to snip and punch out the flesh too. My wife would buy the females exclusively for the roe. You can distinguish the males from females by looking at the tail upside down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JYPXAIZ8OQFresh lobster roe is just too good to be true. As is lobster bisque - absolutely delicious. For those that don't live along the coast you can mail order from lots of suppliers in Maine *( Just google ). They pack in ice and newspaper and ship overnight live. Unfortunately the shipping is as expensive as the lobster. I shipped two 2 1/2 pounders to my daughter for her birthday. They came live. She wouldn't wait for her husband to come home from work, she cooked hers immediately and devoured it. Spiny lobsters are not the same. And don't have claws. They come from the tropics. Way back in the past, when I as working, the company had an annual lobster picnic in the woods on 90 acres of property with a stream. We invited customers, suppliers, insurance agents, employees. We had it catered by an outfit. Somewhere around 30 people. Side dishes were Quahog clams and fresh sweet field corn. *( And lots of booze ! ). My wife loved the ocean. We took a two week vacation and slowly progressed up the coast from New Jersey to Maine, stopping each night with an ocean view. Up in Maine they were having price wars among lobstermen. In some towns they parked trucks on the mall, grassy town center squares and sold off the back. Some prices dropped under $4.00. Per pound. We would buy lobsters and take them to the motel to cook. Fortunately there is a big surplus of Maine lobsters and the price wars are still going on.

my wife dearly loves lobsters.
unfortunately the maine lobster price wars have not gotten to Georgia yet. I guess the shipping has something to do with it.

Oh Yeah!! That's a lot of lobster for 2 pounds. Nice setup. Looks like a great Labor Day weekend setup. Maybe with some jumbo lump blue crab.

I have another package of two pounds in the freezer. The plan will be to do Lobester Alfredo. When I had my last restaurant, that was a huge favorite, and we sold tons of it. I make the sauce from scratch, and make the linguini as well from scratch.

Sam, as usual that looks great. I gotta pick your brain on that linguini from scratch, buddy.

Darn! I just remembered I've got 2 huge Florida lobsters that were gifted to me in the freezer!
Meanwhile, I'm already down for a couple Chicago style hot dogs and some baked beans tonight.

Looks great Sam but I have always thought, no believe, that lobster was way, way over weighted.

Great looking spread there, Sam.
I like the build your own style when family comes over. Sandwiches, pizzas, drinks. If they don't like it, well, they made it!
Our cook your own rib eye dinner at the club is always a big hit too. And we don't have to here any crap about their steaks!

Looks great Sam but I have always thought, no believe, that lobster was way, way over weighted. and you are right. This was commercial packed product. In the center, was a mass of that tiny leg meat, the stuff that is packed in those soda straw small legs. It would not do for this preperation. I saved that, and will use it for a Lobster pasta dish. Probably only 1 1/2 pounds of claw and tail meat.
