watched one of those take a chunk out of the neighbors (owner) finger just as he was trying to hand it to me.  just about every one Ive known that has a bird like that for a pet gets bitten. Ill pass,thanks.

Boys, don't let birds intimidate you. #7-1/2 or 8 will solve most bird problems, and please keep a little perspective. A cockatoo, African Gray, or any of several of the Amazon Basin parrots can be a tease and scare the faint of heart, but they don't often draw blood as long as they recognize that you won't take any crap from them. Extend your first digit (with the middle cocked and locked) and if they try to bite you, thump up side the noodle smartly. Once is usually all it takes.
I don't know how it works taking a cockatoo to the shower. Amazon parrots think it the 10s.
Macaws on the other hand should be shot on sight. Those phuocers will rip off your ear and eat it.
