I've read everything I can find about 155gr with 308win & 30/06.
My question is should I go up in bullet weight when used in a magnum cartridge for deer & elk?
Skinner choices: 155gr 175gr 185gr 220gr
What do you guys think?

I'd say it depends on whether you'll be going long where the higher BC is meaningful.

They don't call it a hunting bullet, but it works.

I'd say it depends on whether you'll be going long where the higher BC is meaningful. Certainly not extreme long range use max would be around 500 yards. I'm looking at the increased velocity with the 300 mag over 308/30-06 velocities. My thinking says step up in bullet weight to get the same performance guys are getting with the 155gr at slower velocities.

That's logical, but there are no flies on the 155 for those distances.

They don't call it a hunting bullet, but it works. To each his own, but I'll use hunting bullets for hunting and match bullets for target shooting. There are too many very good design built hunting bullets for me to try bullets made for punching holes in paper.

Why open up a thread and reply when you don't agree with it? You just like to argue? Or make sure everyone knows you don't have expierence on the topic you're replying to?

Send a PM to scenarhsooter and ask him to post a few pics of animals killed with scenars, that would be eye-opening for you. Or look at Huntr's avatar for a good pic of the same. Or look at this from a couple weeks ago for another example: Use what you want, but these bullets work. No need to say otherwise unless you know it to be true.

I have only Scenar'd three critters, but here is what you are looking for. I believe there is some talk in there of these launched from a WSM and RUM as well. http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/5681850/1

I've been all over that thread before you posted. Not much info on use with magnum velocities and that's my real question. I guess I'll just find out for myself. Thanks to all!
