This is an obituary my friend sent me, it was in the La Crosse tribune last week. You cannot make this schidt up.

PHOENIX — Cameron (Gary Thurston) Mandrake, 53, passed away Aug. 28, 2015, in Phoenix, surrounded by his loved ones.

Gary Wayne Thurston was born Nov. 16, 1961, to Wayne and Delores Thurston of Sparta. Gary graduated from Sparta Senior High in May of 1980.

Gary enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1980, serving at both Mount Home AFB, Idaho, and R.A.F. Upper Heyford, England, as an avionics test station and components specialist until late 1989.

Gary met Darin Baker, the first of his life-mates, in Sept. of 1986. Chris McCoy joined them in 1994, and the trio were united in ceremony in Phoenix, in 1996.

Gary changed his name to Cameron Justin (“C.J.”) Mandrake in the early 1990s.

Cameron was the first internet tech support person in Arizona, working for Internet Direct and PrimeNet, which later became Global Crossing. Cameron was the manager of a large global tech support department during his time at Global Crossing. Cameron moved on to explore other career opportunities in 2005.

Cameron was on a lifelong spiritual journey. He was a spiritual seeker, guide and counselor to many.

Cameron was a lapidarist and made prayer beads for all faith denominations. He worked at Fantasia Crystals, a spiritual retail store, from 2005 to 2010.

C.J. loved to cook and put his love for cooking to use when he attended and graduated at the top of his class at Le Cordon Bleu in Phoenix, in May of 2012.

C.J. had the pleasure of using his talents in two positions after graduation, but illness soon took over and he had to give up his career. C.J. fought a courageous battle and always kept a positive attitude. He was an inspiration to us all.

C.J. touched so many people’s lives, from all walks of life and religious beliefs. He had great compassion and understanding.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Philip Leslie Thurston and Helen Louise (Afeldt) Thurston and Charles and Elsie Arnold, both of Sparta.

He is survived by his life-mates, Darin Baker and Chris McCoy of Phoenix; his parents, Wayne and Delores Thurston of Sparta; his siblings, Ron and Linda (Hatfield) Thurston of Sparta, Allen and Patsy (Koltermann) Thurston of Sparta, Jennine Thurston of Sparta, Tim and Michelle (Thurston) Tucker of Sparta, and Melissa Moore (Clayton Oliver) of Sparta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at Southside Saloon in Sparta.

I will wager any sum of money that this 53 year old homosexual died of AIDS or AIDS related disease. As a very wise philosopher once said "Nature, though expelled with a pitchfork, always returns."

Sparta, Wisconsin? I have lots of relatives around there. This story sounds weird for the territory, but what do I know.

It sounds like he left for Arizona. I grew up outside of La Crosse and I do not think he wanted to stay around Sparta. Not a good area for homo's, if you know what I mean.

Can't be blamed on the chef!

"Cameron was a lapidarist and made prayer beads..."

Yeah, a gal in New Orleans showed me a string of those beads one time.
They weren't for praying...
Although she said they'd make me scream " OH MY GOD! "

"CJ had the pleasure of using his talents in two positions..."

I'm just gonna that one alone.

CJ touched so many peoples lives from so many walks of lives..."

Yeah.
I bet that ain't all he touched.

I wonder how many of those lives followed him into an early grave by all the disease and twisted thinking this sicko pervert so freely spread.

And to think there are people who lament his death and gather to celebrate his life.
His passing should go completely unnoticed.

I was taught to not speak ill of the dead. How is criticizing this man, that none of you know, who is gone and unable to defend himself, proper?

No Barry, I'm not.
I'd like to HOPE that I'm a better human being than that, to revel in and profit from another family's sorrow.

You are judging that all those diseases/conditions are bad things. Perhaps you'd enjoy them! smile
