Only one week to go till the Kansas State Holiday. Have actually had some moisture the past couple weeks, so the dogs ought to be able to last more than the first few yards. Not many birds in this country any more, drought this summer wasnt good at all for our birds. Maybe that is why we have 4 bird farms in less that a 15 mile radius, one of them being the nations largest for pheasants.

Pheasant population in the Boise River valley is also at an all time low. Seems to me the large influx in raptor population has been hard on the birds. I saw six different Great Horned Owls while hunting last Sunday. The farmers in our area agree the large hawks and fox population increase are the reason for the lower numbers. Of course the Fish & Game biologist don't agree.
