The altered stock looks great!
If I tried to do that, I would spend hours filing and sanding and painting and end up with a stock in which I was heavily invested in time and energy and was still a POS compared to the desired result. Then I would go buy the stock of choice.
Congrats to you on your ability!

Sometimes shoot it behind my back that way too....

Where is the token target pic with a dime? As per request.... It was from Ingwe that I learned the trick of using a coin to cover the outlier shot so the group looks better. I've learned lots of great things from the 'Fire! John

Hey Ingwe, could you provide a step-by-step of how you paint those stocks? I just resurrected a year and a half old thread to ask the same question and just came across this thread. Nice job by the way.

1.Once you get the old finish off...or completely clean and grease free... 2. Paint with Krylon Fusion- made specifically to adhere to plastics. 3. Obtain, usually from the net, Krylon Webbing 4. Use that to apply some texture on your first coat. 5. Spray a couple more coats of Fusion on top of the first 6. Spray the webbing for effect( PRACTICE first!) 7.Use a clear satin spray fixative to seal up your Krylon Fusion...2 coats. You're done!

I must have missed something in this post.
Didn't you remove material to reshape the grip and forearm? To me I would expect you removed the outer "skin" epoxy of the stock and cut into the foam core" ?
If so, did you have to epoxy coat the core to give it strength before painting it?
I too am leary of reshaping a B&C stock similar to your build, and learn from your success.
Thanks
Allen

Allen: I did remove material to reshape. The outer skin went away easily and the inner core was layered fiberglass/plastic ....the only issue was rasping...it would often expose the fiberglass and shred it somewhat. Using sandpaper instead of a rasp cleared that up. I did not feel the need to epoxy coat the exposed stock...it seemed to retain its integrity well. If you are going to remove a LOT of stock you might proceed with caution..I never took more than 1/4 inch off anywhere except the wrist/top of comb...took almost an inch there...but didn't hit anything important.

Thanks Ingwe. One question. You start your explanation as below. Does that mean, sand the original stock to remove finish/rough up old finish before doing anything else? 1.Once you get the old finish off...or completely clean and grease free...

Yeah...either/or...and indeed if you don't want to take off the old finish just degrease it with some break cleaner or the like, and use the texturing in place ......
