I can remember when I was about 13 yrs old my Grandfather saying to me, Socialism would take over this country and never fire a shot. I also remember laughing at him, I'm not laughing any more!

Thirty years ago, my friends in their late-sixties, early seventies, stage of life were speaking with one voice to us younger guys:
"The Have-nots are gonna eat y'all alive, Boys".
The steadily increasing welfare state proved them right on that score.
What they failed to predict was that the Powers That Be would be pushing us downward into that class. Cur, I'll be 42 in a few weeks, but my father in law was from that era. I still remember the day he gave me Atlas shrugged to read. Ayn wrote about everything that is happening in the world around us. Excellent read and to bad its not taught in any schools

Just wait, in about 10 years folks will only get half of their SS benefits if that much, a trip to the Dr will be for the rich, and no one will buy our gov debt. That's when things will get interesting. Do the math based on GOA numbers, and don't forget the 2.5 million jobs we are loosing every year and doubling of SS roles.

I am concerned about these trends as well. It will be worse for our children. BTW, I think you mean "GAO" numbers, for Government Accounting Office. Read Mark Levin's current best seller "Plunder and Deceit" on this very subject as he cites the data in his footnotes. I haven't finished it yet but I have yet to find anything with which I disagree. There is a chapter on Social Security, as well as medical care, education, etc.

"Bread and Circuses" will keep the majority appeased for some time yet, Who's playing this afternoon anyway?

Those people didn't all go away, they just look like senior citizens today. A.K.A. kerry, clinton, ayers, many others. The ideas are still the same inside.

well i am from that era, and was on college campus when marchs etc, sds., and so on were active. Those people didn't all go away, they just look like senior citizens today. A.K.A. kerry, clinton, ayers, many others. The ideas are still the same inside. I am from back then too and as a young lawyer I experienced some of it first-hand. I could tell you tales of just how bad it was and who the enablers were for the dangerous radicals at the time. It is interesting how those enablers kept at it, even big business and law firm individuals, in setting those folks up for rehabilitation and support for their current trends. Without that, we might not be in the mess we are today.
