Pam,
That was as well written and eloquent as anything I've read. You, your dad and all your family will be in my prayers.
best to you....Jeff

Just got back from checking two cameras I put out in late April. One had 2200 pictures and the other had over 700. I think I have identified 7 or 8 bucks. My only concern is I did not see many fawns although one camera card filled up in mid June.

Whew. That's a rough conversation to have with a doctor. We've had it as well. Mom, her two sisters, her mother, and her father all had cancer. Sadly we lost one at an early age and she left 3 kids. Mom and her other sister are survivors, grandma and grandpa lived for many years after diagnosis up in northern MN.
Pam, your dad sounds like the man every man wants to be. You have a strong family that will help him rally through the rough patches ahead. And don't underestimate the healing powers of Chickenbuck. Get him up there surrounded by his kids and grandkids - it'll do his spirits wonders.
We're with you all the way.

I was searching for a phone number on my phone yesterday and when I started to type it in, the first one on the search list was Grizzly Bill.
I miss Bill, especially this time of year. He would just starting to ramp up his grocery list and supplies list for his deer camp he ran up by Winter.
Bill and I would have talked about 100 times already since the Labor Day weekend. We'd be talking about trail cam's, family, what loads we're going to run in the rifles...hell we'd yap about the same damn rifles every year, but we loved it.
We'd be swapping stories about Wyatt and Jack and their sports, talking about what car Dave has in the shop and how we love how the build is going and reminisce about the cars we used to have or want to have.
His nemesis was firewood. He was one of the younger guys at camp at 69! He was always up there cutting firewood, lol. they'd take turns but Bill always had a funny story about firewood!
Camp is where you make it.

Continued prayers Pam.
Tzone,
I miss Bill here on the fire. You could always count on a weather report from over that way and it almost always matched what would come through here a day or two prior.

Well, I trust you miscreants held down the fort around here over the weekend. I was in Indiana for my son's wedding on Saturday. The kids had a great time, and their wedding came off without a hitch. His groomsmen pitched in and gave him an AR-15. One of Eric's groomsmen, Tyler is in his last month as a U.S. Marine, and will be home in time for deer season. He's a great kid, and I plan on buying him his deer rifle. He thinks he's paying me for it and has no idea I plan on just giving it to him. He will hunt with me for the second time this fall. The trip down and back was pretty uneventfull, although we did see a bear laying dead on 94 in Wisconsin on the way down.
I gave my son an 870 slug gun. It was one of my personal guns, and he would have got it eventually any ways, so the timing was right, with him living in Indiana. Good to be back home and I'm still stiff and sore from so many hours of windshield time.

Oldest turned 5 yesterday.
His main request was that Mommy drive him to school on his birthday.

Well happy Birthday to all those monkeys! We made a trip to the deer camp woods on Sunday. It was a perfect day in the woods. We jumped on the wheeler and found a new to us clear cut that I'm guessing nobody hunts because it sucks to get to. I set out two trail cams, one on a new spot that didn't appear to have any human activity since it was cut. I'm guessing about 5 years ago. Me and mama got some shooting in. She fell in love with my Glock 23, 40cal. My daughter and I are going to go up next week and goof around in the woods too. I'm hoping she can get her first grouse! We are already looking forward to heading back up!
Camp is where you make it.

I'm just a part-timer here being that I'm an outsider, so I'm just now reading about Pam's Dad.
Pam and Dave, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad/FIL. Prayers sent for his recovery. He sounds tough enough to pull it off.
FWIW, taking him to your camp sounds like a great idea. I'm surprised he's never been.
