just so you guys know... it's not on yet. That was a test grunt.
it was a "hey ladies, how YOU doin" non-aggressive type grunt to just put the vibe out there.
That said, in a few weeks I'm going to be busting some stuff up.

oh its very close Tom! Just checked my cameras sunday night and had several different bucks on it and a couple even fighting. Started to build a new stand just in time now too or maybe i am late again, seems like this time of year when i do start working on them. Workling on the stand last night till dark and the geese are flying and the cool nights air, thats what its all about!

my primos truth cam is still serving me well, but i've seen these "stealth cams" on sale... pretty cheap. Is anybody using them?
I've sworn off moultrie.
Something clever here.

Dave,
I have two Truff cams. A 36 and a 46. The 46 is MUCH better. Smaller, quieter, better pics night and day, uses AA batteries that last all season. But, and it may or may not be a big "but," the time/date stamp has never worked on it. I'll get moon phase and temp.
The 36 is pretty much junk now. It uses D sized batteries and it's loud when it takes a pic. The batteries blew up in it and it corrode the springs and stuff. I cleaned them up but was never able to get it to work right.
Last fall I picked up a Wildgame Innovations 7x. It's been great. I like it a lot and will probably buy another this weekend. I'm tossing between that and the new Cuddyback.

thats the camera i was talking about.Wildgame innovations. suppose to be decent cameras now. i'd like to get another as well. yes, they were young bucks but i got several pictures of them. one was a nice 8, the other a fork. hopefully kids will get a chance at them this year. i've had more bucks on it so far than any other year too. building a new 6x6 stand now, got vinyl sliding windows and all. just framing it up so i got some work to do yet to it.

This is the year of the kids for me too Buschy. I have a few cans out and hope to get them monkeys on a buck, but let them know anything they want is fair game.

i like to get the kids on deer, then i will hunt after that. i tend to go out more by myself for muzzleloader now. quiet in the woods then. i like to see grandpas face when the kids shoot one so thats more important now. my youngest gets his first chance this year. he's pretty excited.

wow, been gone awhile and had some catching up to do. Most importantly, prayers for Pam's father have been sent. I have 4 wildgame innovation cameras and they are okay. Not great by any means but they are now on their second year. I think the Truth Cam 46 is much better than the 36, I had 2 36s and only 1 works now. best idea is to win a Reconyx at a Pheasants Forever banquet though. that thing rocks! Big news is that I am back from my elk hunt. It was an absolutely unbelievable hunt. We called in 2 bugling bulls the last day. I called in 1 to 12 yards for my buddy (but he got busted drawing) and he called in a 6X6 for me. It was an epic half hour of adrenaline filled elk screams and stalking that culminated in me shooting him at 40 yards with my bow. This was a DIY, public land hunt that I will remember forever. I can still visualize that arrow flying.... Now the pack out...holy moly! Dem der elkies weigh a lot of pounds! 75 pounds on your back at the end of a long day (got back to the ATVs at 130 am), in the dark, steep uphill, over blowdowns, at 9300 feet, with feet that have been wet for 4 days...it was AWESOME!!!! The next morning was pretty humorous watching me try to get out of bed! But man, what an experience. If anyone gets a chance to go elk hunting....do it. Just do it. You will run out of health before you run out of money. Oh, I suppose you want a picture as proof, eh?

Great job on that elk Berettaman.
I have a couple of Bushnell cams up since April 29th. Lots and lots of pictures and still on the same set of batteries.

Nice Bull. Good job. Nothing matches the excitement of being in the middle of a herd of elk with bulls screaming and cows calling. Good times
