Bought this rifle at a yard sale and took it out Saturday to shoot. It shoots well enough I want to scope it. I would like to put a picatinny rail on or settle for any means to scope it. I have looked around some but haven't found anything that's made for this gun. Don't know if other mouser mounts would work. Can someone tell me what I could use. Thanks Dale PS It is drilled and tapped for a mount. Front holed are .860 center to center, rear holes are .500 center to center, the two middle holes are 4.097 center to center close as I can measure.

These are great rifles! Have a gunsmith look at the holes that it was D & T'd for and seeif he can match it up.

Or there are numerous options that use the rear sight holes as attachment points if you like the "scout" scope look. Check ebay.....

There is a Redfield base for that small ring, #47157 SHOULD fit...depending on who drilled/tapped it.

I have a Swede that has been d & t'd and sporterized and it is a sweet shooter. Definately worth some effort.

Or there are numerous options that use the rear sight holes as attachment points if you like the "scout" scope look. Check ebay..... I went this route with an unmolested Swedish mauser a number of years back. It works well enough if you like the scout scope setup. I shot better with it than with the iron sights, but never got used to the intermediate eye relief/field of view with it. That's one I wish I'd kept... I currently have a 1899 manufactured Swede someone "bubba'd" with a chopped barrel and stock, new bolt handle and drilled/tapped. I put an old steel tube Weaver on it and now is my official "truck gun"

Mine looks just like your 1899. Not knowing about these guns didn't know if it had been modified or not. My barrel was shortened to 16.5" and only weighs 6.5 pounds. I'm thinking it will be a sweet woods gun. Thanks to everybody for your input. Dale
