What's the best, easiest way to clean the action on a model 60. My dad gave me his to clean. It's been in the closet since the early 80's since my brother and I left home. Don't think it has been shot since then.

They are pretty easy to clean. The action has sub-assemblies that come out together and are easy to spray and brush the grit from without taking the subs apart.
Yes, and I believe there are videos on the Interwebs that demonstrate this too.
As for me, I pop the action out of the stock and spray it, working the action back and forth, until the oil runs clear. I wipe down and take a little compressed air to everything. I wipe the slide and metal surfaces using a lightly oiled rag. Too much oil holds dirt and grit.
That's it. You can take the action apart if you'd like. The instructions are here.
Thanks everyone for the help. I guess I will take it down to sub assemblys and clean it from there. The last auto I took apart was a Remington 550. It never worked again so I was a little intimidated.

The 550 action is a super complicated pain in the a$$. I recently took one completely down and put it back together.
