My 11 month old griffon did a heck of a good job today upland opener. Working with all summer. I was laid up in hospital for a month so I was worried about training.

Great points, holding well, no jumped birds and she found every Bird even in the thick cover. Toward end of morning she was not retrieving to hand. She was getting tired and would drop birds about 5 yds away and just roll around on the ground. She does that when she tires of training. any tips? I usually call her back. Wait a minute and send to retrieve bird.

Had hip replaced 2 months ago. so no climbing steep rocky hills for chukar. Next month should be ready.

Two limits of quail. Beautiful day to be out hunting with friend. Used Ithaca 37 featherweight in 20 gauge. Hunted early to avoid snakes.

Nice dog!

I'm surprised there are so many birds given all the fires caused by the dry weather. Where in Washington are you located?

Pretty birds and a good looking pup. Gambell's quail?

Scattergun looks like an S&W 1000 to me.

Jealous here! Is your pup getting enough water when hunting? My GSP will do something similar when he gets too hot.

Bingo

I have over a doz shotguns and I love the sw 1000 ic choke for quail.
In central WA and California quail. Jumped a covey of 40 to 50 yesterday dog went crazy . Did not know what to do

I give her plenty of water
and hunt creek bottoms and near springs

We also kicked up a lot of rabbits . She was pointing those too

Waterfowl starts this weekend on Rez . Try her out on ducks. She really loves water retrieves too

Looking like a great first season.

The WPG's that I have hunted with are duck hunting machines.

If you can get them to sit still laugh

Nice!

My Griff and I were out in the palouse last weekend. Got into some quail, saw a lot of pheasant, and a nice big rattler down by the river.

It was more a scouting trip for a late season buck tag, but nice to get the dog out as we missed most of last bird season.
