Blacktail53. WTG man. First one I've seen carrying a day pack. We do have a few around here and I think ones best chances are during the late archery season. As to pictures... I just put a "Nice 4 x 4" photo in the deer board. Take care, 1Minute

3rd week of elk archery season, central Oregon.
Had him at 28 yards hung up behind some jack pine, I was at full draw for what felt like an hour. He finally turned and walked from right to left, hit an opening and there was my shot.
Why I didn't cow call to stop him, I don't know, but I didn't. I tucked the 30 yd pin tight to the shoulder and dumped the string. He immediatly crouched and spun away from me and the shaft hit him near the last of the ribs angled towards the off side shoulder. Only the fletching was showing.
We gave him 2 hours and found him in his death bed. I shot him in the chest angled on into the heart - that's the mess my fanny pack is supposed to be covering up - What he did next was unreal... He slowly, barely, managed to stand up ! My pard and I were maybe 6 or 7 yards away at the time and could not believe how danged tall a mature bull elk is. He slowly shuffled a 180 turn and then coughed and dropped dead as a door nail. My other pardner scrambled over the hill about then and missed the whole show. The first arrow got liver and part of one lung.
When I got him home, the little lady took one look at him and said "load him up, we're going to the taxidermist". I didn't argue!
Thanks for asking!

Nice job covering the gore with your pack; you'll get a lot better mileage out of the pic that way. Very aesthetic.
