The Beatle can't hold a candle to numerous other bands. Here are just a few that are/were much better.....
Lynyrd Skynyrd ZZ Top Charlie Daniels Band AC/DC Journey Def Leppard REO Speedwagen
Without The Beatles NONE of those would have existed
Spot on, hatari. The Beatles paved the way for many greats to follow. I about spit my Lucky Charms all over the comp screen when I read Dixie's post. REO Speedwagon and Journey??!! Are you serious? Both great bands, but not even in the same league as the Beatles.

as a kid in England, I've actually got to meet the Beatles... just after they got back from their tour of the USA...
our class was doing a field trip to the Tower of London, and for once the chapel was blocked off, so me and my best friend ( the Wing Commander's son) sneaked off from the group to see what was going on back there, in the Chapel..
Low and behold, they were filming something with the Beatles back there...
some security guy saw us and yelled at us, and a bunch of security came running to chase us out of there...it caught the attention of both Paul and John Lennon...
as soon as we opened our mouths, the security guard was yelling "it figures a bunch of bloody Yanks...can't you little bastards read???"
Paul comes over and the rest of the band followed, they asked where we lived, where we were from... told us how they had just toured 'America' and they loved it... and the reception they got..
They shook our hands and told us to buy their records and tell our friends..... then they were ushered off, and the security guards escorted us out, and shoved us out the door...
We run back to the group, the teacher scolds us for disappearing...we tell everyone we just met the Beatles, which was greeted with "sure ya did".....
after the Stones came out in early 65, I wasn't really much of a fan of theirs ever since....
but it was a thrill for a couple of 12 year olds in 1964...

When "Revolution"/"Hey, Jude" first came out, they didn't know which song would turn into a hit, and things being what they were at the time, they both did - the first double-hit-sided 45, if I remember correctly, I thought that they were saying "Hate You".
Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.
Happily Trapped In the Past (Thanks, Joe)
Not only a less than minimally educated person, but stupid and out of touch as well.

That's hilarious. With the exception of Skynyrd and Charlie Daniel's musical ability, there's not enough creativity or talent in the rest of those bands to even compare to what the Beatles meant and brought to music in the 60's.

I love Revolution, it's almost heavy metal. Lennons vocals were friggen awesome on that track.
For some reason I've always hated Hey Jude. Nails on a chalkboard to me.
