Along with the enablers on the fire, the Savage made me do it with this 1954 EG More pics and a range report when it arrives. If it has never been scoped, I might keep if a scope virgin. Otherwise, I found Lyman Tru Locks and a 4X All American.

Purdy. For what its worth, my experience with Truelok rings and bases is that they position the scope fairly high. But I also think the Lyman All American is a cut above the Weaver in quality and, hey, ya gotta love the name.

A factory D&T EG is a very nice rig, and that's about the prettiest one you'll ever find. Nice grab.

Helpful responses in another post where I asked if the jeweled bolt and front sight could be original gave me confidence.
I am grateful for the Savage 99 information which is so freely shared.

nice, what's the serial # range? It is probably one of the earliest D&T'd EG's.

Was thinking of topping it with a pre-Permacenter Lyman All American 4X with Tru Lock bases and mounts, but if it was never scoped I might keep it that way and shoot with the factory irons.

That's one of the early ones, the serial number is about 4000 higher than my early D&T'd EG.
