Was wondering if any of you guys know of a red pad that I can replace the Pachmayer that came on a fwt. 30-06 that I bought here. I'm aware of the red Win. marked repros available, but what I'm really looking for is something that will actually absorb a good deal of recoil as a 5'5" young lady will be using it from time to time. If any of you know of one that may have the same screw hole spacing- or at least spacing that won't interfere with the 7/8" weight reduction holes in the stock- I'm all ears. The pad that is on it now is vented, and that too, would be fine. This one was probably put on when the gun was new and is hard as a wedding pecker and looks like hell. Thanks, John

John, the one that comes to my mind is the red Pachmay decelerator. Get the 1" thick medium and it will grind down to fit and look great. Should look like these when done:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

BSA, Is that the one they refer to as brown colored? If so, that will be perfect as I have an FN SC Fwt. with a 1" decelerator and it does absorb recoil nicely.

Also, what is that stock on the bottom one? I love that slim, open wrist on it. Bansner?

They are both red pachmayr decelerators. The rifle on the bottom is my custom 338 win mag. It is wearing a Brown Precision. One of these days I'm going to weigh it because I think it's a Brown pounder..... It is awfully light...Rifle as shown is 7 3/4 pounds.....

Ask for the red decelerator. It is marked "red" and is a much better pad than the repro Winchesters that I used to install, (but that was twenty years ago).
Best,
Jack

Thanks guys, after a little more looking I did find the red decelerator. jt, you're certainly right about the repros. They look nice and right for the application but you'd probably get more recoil reduction stealing a red pad off a tang safety Ruger after it sitting for 25 years:)

The red decelerator looks great and actually cuts down on some of the felt recoil. Bob
