It makes them D-E-A-D. If you are talking match bullets, stay off bones and life is good. If hunting bullets, don't give it a second thought. Hot-Cors sail through anything you can hunt, with devastating results for the game.
I'm a firm believer in the theory of " If it bleeds, I can kill it".

A local girl just killed a cow elk with a 123 amax from a 6.5 creedmoor at about 2900 fps mv. My friend who was there said it worked perfectly. I may try that bullet in deer this year from my grendal.

I shot this buck with 123 SST's started at 3090. He was just a shade over 300 yds and made it 7 of my steps after the hit. Bullet exited and scrambled everything from entrance to exit. Exit hole was about golf ball size.

The 260/123 Scenar combo works like a charm.

Amax is a winner. 2 steps stumbled backward and dead. Very good field results deer and a few elk. Of course not first choice for elk but the right angle , ( broad side , not moving or slight quartering away) med range or less kill just as well as premium bullets.

I have started loading for the Creedmoor. I am going to use hunting bullets for hunting. I don't even need to ask how they will perform.

Killed a blacktail buck with a 123 Amax (3000fps) at about 40 yards... bullet exited... deer turfed.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

I shot a whitetail doe during our 10 day "River" season last week with a 6.5 Creedmoor and 123 grain SST combination. Shot through the lungs, through/through penetration that resulted in scrambled lungs and a short death run. Not the quickest or slowest kill ever, but pretty representative of a double lung shot.

Paul - define hunting bullet....seems some that are not labeled for that purpose do very fine. Outcomes matter to bullets. Head stamps never mattered much to me either. I've dropped deer within 20 yds of impact with a "Target bullet" 105 Amax via 6mmBR "Target round" at 400 yds -
Hence my post. Thanks for all who shared their experience. I have Amax, Scenar, maybe some SMK left, and the Noz CC.

I have been loading the 123gn A Max in my 6.5 Grendel-Max (at 2700fps) for a couple of years now and have taken quite a few goats in the high country with them. Nothing but good results from these bullets.

6.5, I have been using the 120/123 Amax for several seasons in both my 260AI and my 264 Win mag. The 260 pushes them at 3100 and the 264 at 3300. I have shot antelope from 250yds to 488 yds. This year I have killed 3 antelope with the 120 amax. I was concerned about the shot at 488 but it was a bang flop. The bullet entered the left shoulder and exited the right shoulder and the exit was about 2" in diameter. the closer shots also did the same. The bullet is extremely accurate from both the 260 and the 264. I would not hesitate to use it on deer or elk (with the right angle on elk). IT performs as well as I could ask for. Bill
